Ready to Plan Your Best Year Yet?

Simple Steps to Reflect, Realign, and Create a Vision for an Incredible 2025

"Your past does not equal your future unless you decide to live there."

Tony Robbins

As we go into the next year, it’s the perfect time to reflect and plan. I’m in full-on planning mode right now—planners by my side, filling up my notion page—and I wanted to share my current process for creating a roadmap for the year ahead. If the thought of 365 days feels overwhelming, breaking it down into smaller, manageable chunks can make the process more effective.

This isn’t about “New Year, New Me.” Instead, it’s about using the opportunity of a fresh year to reset, realign, and dream big while setting achievable goals.

Let’s dive into my step-by-step guide for planning an amazing 2025.

Step 1: Reflect on the Past Year

Before setting new goals, take time to reflect on 2024. What worked? What didn’t? What habits and achievements made you proud, and where did roadblocks appear? Breaking this down into things you could and couldn’t control helps you set realistic expectations for 2025.

Start by revisiting your 2024 goals. Ask yourself:

  • What have I achieved this year?

  • What ways of working or habits brought me joy?

  • What didn’t work, and why?

This isn’t about shaming yourself for missed goals—it’s about learning from the past before diving into the future.

Step 2: Define Your Vision for 2025

Think big! What do you want your life to look like?

Create a vision map by breaking your aspirations into three categories:

  • Who you want to be

  • How you want to live

  • What you want to do

Once you’ve brainstormed you can try and feed these ideas into ChatGPT and ask it to create a “day in the life” scenario for you in 2025. This gives you a clear picture of your goals in action—and helps you see if they’re aligned with the life you truly want.

Then, head to Pinterest to build a vision board that visually represents your goals. Make it your phone wallpaper, put it on your fridge, or keep it wherever you’ll see it daily. Seeing your vision regularly keeps your focus sharp and motivation high.

Step 3: Set SMART Goals

Goals are great, but they need to be specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound (SMART) to be actionable.

For example:

  • “Eat healthier” → Not SMART.

  • “Cook and eat a homemade meal every weekday” → SMART!

Organize your goals into categories like:

  • Personal development

  • Relationships

  • Finances

  • Career

  • Health

By keeping goals measurable, you’ll know exactly when you’ve achieved them and can celebrate your wins along the way.

"A goal without a plan is just a wish”

Antoine de Saint-Exupéry

Step 4: Build Habits to Match Your Goals

Goals feel good to set, but without actionable steps, they’re just words on paper. Break your goals into daily habits and track your progress.

Use tools like digital planners or habit trackers to stay consistent. These small, daily actions add up to big changes by the end of the year. And don’t forget—you can ask AI to create a weekly schedule that incorporates your habits, ensuring your goals are realistic and achievable.
